They're both really good but I prefer your old better. For example, the way you did hands, the face shapes, the eyes, the hair, the coloring, is all a lot nicer and more unique in your 'before' piece. But thats just me, I'm sure a lot of people prefer your new style anyway (:
I think it's because in the before piece, my mindset when drawing was to create something unique. Which is good and all, but I had a lot of problems with basic anatomy (super long noodle people) and things looking flat. The crowns are an obvious example.
I do agree though that I've been struggling with style uniqueness and that shows in my gallery. I'm currently working for a visual novel development team which is almost completely male, and they prefer cuteness and general appeal over any "odd" quirks in my art. We've actually had many discussions about the way I draw noses, which is sort of ridiculous in hindsight but I do see their point. Hopefully I'll be able to continue improving while creating my own unique style.
Thanks for the insight! I love getting comments like this. If you want, you can take a look at my old gallery here: [link]
No problem, and I wish you the best of luck in finding a happy medium between both those styles. They're both good on their own, but I bet if you could somehow mix them together, you'd create one ultimate/beautiful/ and unique stle :'D
